About Us

Mission Statement

Together We Cope bridges the gap for Southland residents in temporary crisis by providing food, shelter, clothing and referrals, empowering them to return to self-sufficiency.

Who We Are

Together We Cope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that assists families in temporary crisis from more than 20 communities in four Chicago south suburban townships: Bremen, Palos, Orland and Worth.

Based in Tinley Park, Together We Cope operates a food pantry, resale shop and provides help with some costs such as rent and utility bills. In 2009-2010, TWC provided assistance to 44,000 people through its various programs and distributed more than $1 million in food. More than a thousand youngsters received backpacks and school supplies in the agency’s annual Back-to-School program, and more than a thousand received holiday gifts in the annual Adopt-a-Child effort.

Hundreds of volunteers contribute to the agency’s operation, managing the food pantry and resale shop throughout the year and playing a major role in all fundraising activities.
